Kuchipudi Dance, Carnatic Music & Nattuvangam

PADAM

The Academy

Prafulla’s Academy of Dance & Music (PADAM) is dedicated to enhancing and enriching the wondrous Indian classical dance form called Kuchipudi, along with the accompanying classical music called Carnatic Music.

At PADAM, we firmly believe that age is no barrier to learning these classical arts once you set your mind to it. Students from ages 3 years through 65 years have enjoyed learning here. PADAM is a prominent Kuchipudi dance school in the New England area.

Students learn in a strict curriculum structure. They are also actively encouraged to participate in cultural and charitable events. The gurukula tradition of teaching helps students build confidence while preparing them to be better citizens and future leaders.

Interested students also learn the Nattuvangam. This is the art of maintaining the beat using cymbals and also reciting the musical syllables during a dance performance.

The Kuchipudi Dance style strictly follows the ancient dance form which traces its roots to the Natya Shastra, which was later modernized and systematized by Siddhendra Yogi.

Classes

Currently classes are at the following locations:

  • Cranston in Rhode Island
  • Ashland in Massachusetts  (vicinity of HollistonHopkinton, Mansfield, Shrewsberry, Grafton, Framingham & Boston)

For students outside of the New England area, remote classes are conducted via Zoom.
